we can produce our muon detectors for you

 

 

Detection Technology

We manufacture XY - multi-wire proportional chambers (XY-MWPC)
±2 mm spatial resolution, higher than required for most of the applications.
Muon Systems produces XY-MWPC with 2 different surface sizes: Small 50cm x 50cm and Large 1m x 1m

Operation of the XY-MWPC

MWPCs are sensitive to the passage of muons, with a detection efficiency > 95%.
When a muon passes through an XY-MWPC, it generates a simultaneous electrical signal in the X and Y layers of the chamber.
The signal is processed by the readout electronics, transforming the electrical pulse into a digital signal.
The signal recording is handled by a data acquisition (DAQ) system.
The system can process and record up to 60,000 events per second.

 

Muography Detector

Muography applications require detectors to measure the trajectory of muons.
Each XY-MWPC measures a point along the muon's trajectory.
The minimum detector configuration requires at least two XY-MWPCs.
Configurations with up to six chambers are also available, depending on the application.

Small Size Muon Detector

  • Detection surface: 45 cm x 45 cm.

  • Synchronous reading channels per chamber: 224.

  • Data outputs: muon counts, spatial position and direction

  • Spatial resolution: 2 mm

  • Angular resolution: < 10 mRad (configurable)

  • Portable & orientable detector.

  • Tilt range: 0º – 90º.

  • Structure size: 58 cm x 75 cm x 36 cm.

  • Available Insulation: protection against temperature, humidity and rain.

  • Gas consumption: ArCO2 (1.2 l/h)
